  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Two (2) years or 4,000 hours of related work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Two (2) years or 4,000 hours of related work experience.
  • Licensure as Professional Engineer; Licensure in Electrical Engineering; Completion of MSOE transfer instructor preparatory program.
  • Part-time faculty need to be proficient in the basics of Electronics.
  • Proficiency in articulating concepts including voltage, current, power, resistance, capacitance, inductance, direct current, alternating current, capacitive reactance, inductive reactance, series, parallel, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff’s voltage and current law.
  • Experience teaching diverse students at the post-secondary level or industry experience with electrical, programming or electronic systems.
  • Electrical background and experience sufficient to teach core associate degree courses in the Electrical Engineering Technology and Electronics Programs.
  • Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skill in communications and human relations with diverse populations and individuals with disabilities.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs; willingness to travel to company locations for collaborative meetings and/or training.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face, and on-line course delivery.
  • Assist and advise students with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
  • Work closely with the College’s Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Attend school, program and advisory committee meetings.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, first generation college students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college’s mission, vision and values.
