Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Registered nurses hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain the degree within four years of the hire or reclassification date.
  • The role requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, use manual dexterity and fine motor skills, lift and move patients or medical equipment, and navigate clinical environments.
  • The role requires visual acuity and color perception to read medical charts, documents, and monitors, as well as auditory ability to communicate and perceive alarms or patient instructions.
  • The role requires stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of patient care, including long shifts and stressful situations.
  • The role requires compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions in accordance with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by protecting patient privacy and providing responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional care.
  • Participate in a professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, leadership and clinical excellence, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
