  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years of working experience.
  • Masters or Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 5+ (MS), or 2+ (PhD) years of experience preferred.
  • Skilled with protein chemistry, protein functional structural analysis.
  • Experienced in variety of separation techniques.
  • Strong hands-on experience in protein purification and characterization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to function as a major investigator, generating original technical ideas and development strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Leading the development of robust downstream unit operations and processes that can be scaled up to manufacturing scales.
  • Executes purification experiments including automated or high-throughput chromatography (AKTA platform), filtration, clarification/ depth filtration, column packing, and tangential flow filtration independently based on expert knowledge of protein purification and analysis with an in-depth understanding of all modes of chromatography. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to projects.
  • Using scientific principles and professional practices to solve a wide range of problems creatively and practically.
  • Representing the team in cross-functional and/or cross-site interactions.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert both inside and outside the company. Act as an advisor to the management and assist with the professional development efforts of the team.
  • Preparing technical protocols, reports and externally presenting to health authorities.
  • Introducing novel purification technologies to the team and maintaining a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
  • Responsible for coaching junior scientists and support laboratory operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with high throughput technologies, automation platforms and data management.
  • Efficiency in molecular modeling software is desirable.
  • Expert user of AKTA chromatographic instruments (such as AKTA Avant, AKTA Pure or similar).
  • Strong understanding of analytical techniques such as HPLC, ELISA, CESDS, Circular Dichroism etc.
  • Experience in solving complex problems where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Experience in quality control tracking systems including change controls, deviations, CAPA, root cause analysis, etc.
