Requirements
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the Personnel Security (PERSEC) discipline.
  • Prior experience and proficiency using the following Systems: Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Intelligence Community Security Clearance Repository "Scattered Castles", National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), Fingerprint Tracking System (FTS).
  • Expert knowledge of the U.S. Government Security Programs and skills in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements for PERSEC.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, power point, excel, SharePoint)
Responsibilities
  • Leads a team of three (3) PERSEC Assistants supporting the Joint Staff Security Office (JSSO) ensuring that all Joint Staff (JS) personnel have the requisite clearance and to ensure the acceptance and retention of military, civilian, and contractor personnel is consistent with the interests of National Security.
  • Performs in-person and telephone customer support during JSSO business hours under minimal supervision, handles and resolves complex issues.
  • Provides PERSEC expertise of Executive Orders, DOD, JS, and NATO security policy, procedures, and programs to ensure security eligibility of personnel for entry into JS facilities, assignment to sensitive positions, and access to classified information.
  • Processes packages for in-bound personnel, initiating and processing to completion eApp actions background investigation actions, processing fingerprints; preparing folders, processing forms, verifying clearances, indoctrinating personnel for both collateral, SCI, and NATO, debriefing personnel when access is no longer required, running DISS queries and, entering information into clearance systems of record; and other administrative actions necessary to complete in/out processing.
  • Reviews security questionnaires for content, accuracy, and completeness, and discuss issues of concern with the PERSEC Chief and assists with contractor SCI nomination packages by validating clearance eligibility and ensuring receipt of required security forms.
  • Manages SCI clearances, conduct SCI pre-screens, process security clearance verifications for access to classified networks, prepare documentation, update appropriate systems of records, and debrief personnel from the SCI program when access is no longer required.
  • Provides support for compliance with Continuous Evaluation requirements to include receiving and processing self-reports and reports of adjudicative relevant information; reporting adjudicative relevant information to DCSA CAS; and coordinating communication between personnel and DCSA CAS as needed.
  • Processes security clearance validation requests submitted to JSSO needed for requesting/granting access to classified spaces, computer networks, access badges, or courier badges.

  • Familiarity with DOD365 SharePoint, a plus.
