Senior Material Flow Process Engineer

The Senior Material Flow Process Engineer is a leadership role on the Material Flow and Inventory Control team at Redwood Materials. This person will coordinate the efficient movement of materials to support production, coordinate the receipt of raw materials, and prepare shipment of finished goods.  The Senior Material Flow Process Engineer will also build a team of specialists and mentor for professional growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities will include:

Warehouse Design

• We are looking for a candidate who can design the most efficient warehouses and modernize them with the most useful systems and tools
• We need candidates that can design improvements to existing warehouses to make them the most efficient
• We will need to design first-of-its-kind, outdoor warehouse for battery storage
• Need expertise with the most relevant warehouse systems and equipment to efficiently move material and most efficiently limit any unnecessary headcount growth.

Space Planning/Process Design

• Work with engineering teams that require space layouts regarding different material flow operations in processes that will be launching:
• Example Given: we need to solve for the outbound processing of 5 different outbound materials while shipping out homogenous trailers in a space that only has 100 pallets of available storage space and collect appropriate resources (trailers, drivers, workers, equipment, space layout materials, etc.) before ramp of the hydro factory
• Current processes need to be optimized for safety, quality, efficiency and employee comfort
• Lead projects around process improvements within current state business
• Helping to write Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for processes
• Designing training and auditing programs around SWIs
• Warehouse Management System(WMS) needs to be implemented on a thorough basis throughout the department
• Implementation of warehouse controls system in the future

Headcount Planning

• We need to be able to accurately project how much headcount will be needed in different process lanes for recruiting purposes
• Work with finance team on yet-to-be launched projects for planning purposes

• Structured approach to problem solving
• Ability to interact with and lead varying personalities effectively
• A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Warehouse Process Design/Engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Business Management, Operations, or any other related field
• Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Experience in technical writing
