Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential is required.
  • Three years of experience in medical billing is required.
  • Experience working in a remote setting is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Teams, and Excel, is required.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as EPIC is required.
  • Familiarity with medical billing and terminology is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards, including HIPAA and Medicaid and Medicare rules, is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or individually as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Follow up consistently on all unpaid claims using work-queue and aging reports.
  • Resolve claim denials by contacting insurance providers, submitting appeals, and informing the Billing Manager of denial trends.
  • Correct and resubmit claim rejections in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the billing team and Billing Manager to address coding-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Answer patient questions related to billing.
  • Manage work queues assigned by the Billing Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is highly preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is a plus.
