KION Group debuts "Linde Delta" Turret truck for ultra-narrow aisle warehousing. Jul 11, 2026. The KION Group has released the Linde Delta, a specialized turret truck designed for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) warehousing where aisles can be as tight as 1.6 meters. Traditional forklifts must turn 90 degrees to pick a pallet, requiring wide aisles. The Linde Delta utilizes a "turret" assembly where the mast and forks rotate independently of the chassis. This allows the truck to drive straight down the aisle and pick pallets from either side without turning the vehicle body. The engineering focus for the Delta was on stability and energy efficiency. The mast is mounted on a reinforced "straddle" leg design that spreads the load directly to the floor rails, eliminating the need for a heavy counterweight. This allows the truck to lift loads up to 18 meters high while maintaining a small footprint. A key innovation is the "Descent Energy Recovery" system. When the forks are lowered with a heavy load, the hydraulic oil creates resistance. In the Linde Delta, this resistance is captured by a hydraulic motor that drives a generator, feeding electricity back into the battery. This system extends the battery life by up to 30%, a critical factor in cold-store operations where changing batteries in freezing temperatures is difficult. KION Group debuts "cold-chain hardened" Electric pallet jack for deep freeze logistics. Jun 30, 2026. KION Group, the parent company of Linde and STILL, has released a specialized version of its ETV electric pallet jack designed for deep-freeze logistics and cold storage warehouses. Standard electric forklifts face two critical failures in sub-zero environments: condensation forming on electronic sensors causes short circuits, and the electrolyte in lead-acid batteries freezes or loses capacity, forcing operators to swap batteries every 4 hours. The new "Arctic Line" pallet jack features a complete galvanic isolation of the control handle and sensors. The printed circuit boards (PCBs) are coated in a military-grade silicone conformal coating and housed in a nitrogen-purged, heated compartment within the chassis. This prevents the rapid temperature changes that occur when moving from a -30°C freezer to a 20°C loading dock from causing condensation on the electronics. Furthermore, the hydraulic system utilizes a specialized synthetic fluid with a pour point of -50°C. In standard trucks, hydraulic oil thickens in the cold, causing the lift motor to overheat and the lift speed to drop. The Arctic Line maintains full lift speed even at -35°C. The traction battery is equipped with an active heating mat that keeps the battery core at an optimal 25°C, ensuring the truck delivers full power throughout the entire shift without the need for mid-shift battery changes. Kion demos physical AI at GTC. Kion presented two industrial applications of physical AI at the recent GTC 2026, which took place March 16-19 in San José, California. The demonstrations focused on autonomous material handling in operational warehouse environments and on safety-certified human detection for automated trailer loading. It was the next step of the strategic collaboration between Kion, NVIDIA, and Accenture, aimed at bringing AI and digital twins to the physical world in the supply chain, driving the integration of AI-driven perception, simulation, and fleet orchestration. These lighthouse projects mark a transition from simulation-based development to deployment in real-world operations. Kion uses NVIDIA's Omniverse platform and the MEGA simulation engine as well as a physical AI-powered digital twin and systems architecture pioneered by Accenture to create digital twins of customer warehouses, enabling virtual commissioning before physical installation. This approach allows scenarios to be tested under variable conditions, including safety-critical situations. "Our customers are facing increasing labor shortage and have a high need to increase operational efficiency. Autonomous industrial truck at GXO Kion has deployed its first AI-supported autonomous industrial truck at a GXO Logistics warehouse in Épinoy, France. Most importantly: it operates alongside warehouse personnel and manual forklifts - all without human intervention. Safety certification for human detection Kion is working with NVIDIA on a certification for a functional safety solution that relies on AI-based human detection in warehouse environments. The system uses NVIDIA's Halos foundation model, which detects and localizes humans and industrial trucks, and is fine-tuned with Kion's domain-specific data for intralogistics environments. The application is designed for automated trailer loading, a use case demonstrated at CeMAT Shanghai in October 2025. Kion's approach uses stationary cameras connected to an NVIDIA edge AI platform. A proof of concept at a live warehouse is planned for later this year. The demonstrations focused on autonomous material handling in operational warehouse environments and on safety-certified human detection for automated trailer loading. Synthetic data and edge case simulation Training AI models for safety-critical applications requires exposure to rare but plausible scenarios. Kion generates synthetic training data within virtual environments to prepare systems for so-called long-tail situations: events that occur with very low probability but must still be handled correctly. The virtual warehouse environment allows these scenarios to be simulated without disrupting live operations or requiring physical staging.
