Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus) from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
  • Basic experience in HVAC, mechanical utility, and plumbing system design and implementation
Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems of basic complexity, including HVAC, mechanical utilities, and plumbing systems, in compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Perform engineering calculations such as load analysis, pressure drop, and equipment sizing
  • Develop system schematics, P&IDs, plans, schedules, and installation details
  • Assist in the development of construction drawing packages and specifications with oversight
  • Support plumbing design tasks including Domestic cold and hot water systems, Sanitary and storm drainage systems, Natural gas and compressed air systems, Specialty piping (e.g., purified water, process waste)
  • Conduct field surveys and integrate design with existing conditions
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, vendors, and trade partners to ensure coordinated and constructible designs
  • Participate in squad checks and contribute to quality assurance efforts
  • Support construction activities including RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to internal training efforts
  • Attend professional development activities and expand technical skill sets
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Experience in life sciences (pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory) or food & beverage industries
  • Familiarity with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and building codes
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA)
  • Experience conducting field surveys and supporting field reporting
  • Foundational experience in plumbing design and documentation
  • Exposure to Revit plugins (e.g., Enscape, Unifi) and parametric tools (e.g., Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino)
  • Strong coordination skills across disciplines and with construction partners
  • LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design credentials or experience
