  • Demonstrate the ability to guide, mentor, and develop a team as a leader.
  • Have good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, including the ability to interpret and update project plans, identify areas where progress is impacting project success, and propose necessary changes to recover variance.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Be familiar with naval and maritime codes, including classification society rules and regulations and Defence standards.
  • Be familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning systems and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to understand Earned Value Management, including Schedule Performance Index and Cost Performance Index, to support project decision-making.
  • Have a proven understanding of ship habitation documentation, including ship systems and works such as HVAC, deck plates, false floors and ceilings, habitation and furniture, refrigerated spaces, magazines, stores, galleys, laundries, ship metalwork, stowage, and doors, in compliance with class rules.
  • Have demonstrable experience in the manufacture, installation, and integration of habitation systems within the naval or marine industry.
  • Be able to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Be familiar with international standards and naval classification regulations.
  • Complete BPSS security clearance as part of the onboarding process.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Habitation Manager to lead and manage the Habitation area in line with applicable strategies and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Habitation Manager to develop and strengthen knowledge and operational capabilities within the Habitation trade to meet programme requirements effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with the annual Prevention and Environmental plans for the Habitation area.
  • Support the Habitation Manager in managing productive resources within the area.
  • Monitor and track budget, area expenses, project scheduling, workload, and underactivity within the area.
  • Coordinate Habitation activities for each project or programme, ensuring work follows proper procedures, work methods, and established quality standards.
  • Support management of Habitation production, suggest hiring decisions when production requirements exceed shipyard capacity, and manage and supervise subcontracted work.
  • Manage H&W Habitation area resources, including subcontracted resources.
  • Follow and/or execute the Habitation Policy/Plan for each project or programme.
  • Provide technical support to programmes on matters relating to Habitation.
  • Improve production processes affecting Habitation-related disciplines by promoting continuous improvement, information technology use, and technological advancement.
  • Support training and development of personnel.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations during contracting through preparation of specifications and technical evaluations.
  • Propose improvements or changes to organisation, personnel, infrastructure, and investments needed to optimise area functioning.
  • Support the definition and development of procedures for project or programme execution.
  • Ensure implementation, development, and communication of quality through integration and compliance with the Quality Management System within the area.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in military projects is highly desirable.
