Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Three to five years of project management and land surveying experience.
  • At least two years of field management experience.
  • Knowledge of CADD drawing and survey computation.
  • Experience working in a surveying or civil engineering environment.
  • Experience using Carlson Civil Suites with IntelliCAD.
  • Experience managing field crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents.
  • Ability to perform calculations and follow instructions for field work and construction stakeout.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry or otherwise move 25, 50, and 80 pounds regularly or occasionally.
  • Ability to sit, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods.
  • Ability to type or key in data and answer telephones as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Physical ability to bend, squat, reach, stretch, sit, stand, run, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to adhere to company, safety, and project safety plans.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug testing.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare work plans, assemble project teams, delegate tasks, and ensure compliance with project scope and timely completion.
  • Establish deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize project progress.
  • Manage personnel, generate proposals, and support business development.
  • Oversee and assist with scheduling field work and maintaining the field schedule and calendar.
  • Review and process field survey results, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features and structures.
  • Maintain project accuracy, timeliness, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including site measurements and calculations, and perform mathematical calculations and field-data checks.
  • Perform deed and utility research and compile record maps, legal descriptions, utility information, and right-of-way data.
  • Assist with business development and contract preparation.
  • Participate in scoping, risk assessment, and pricing of remediation projects.
  • Manage and approve time-off requests and schedules.
  • Review timesheets for billing accuracy and approve them through accounting software.
  • Manage vendors purchasing field supplies and tools.
  • Coordinate with survey project managers and field coordinators regarding workload and scheduling needs.
  • Collaborate with licensed surveyors, engineers, technical staff, and survey staff.
  • Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Participate in or conduct and document weekly crew safety meetings.
  • Maintain correct and current digital files on assigned computer equipment.
  • Assist with assigning fleet vehicles to field personnel and coordinate fleet maintenance, repairs, and transfers between offices.
  • Provide technical direction and training on hardware and equipment when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and arrange repairs for hardware and equipment.
  • Assist other departments with personnel management and business development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional college coursework or an apprenticeship.
  • An advanced degree.
  • CSIT certification or equivalent survey-technician credential.
  • CST certification or a survey apprenticeship.
