Requirements
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • High school education plus 8 years of experience.
  • Completion of the Company Foreperson Training Program.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people.
  • Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of company safety policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of the line construction trade, electrical trade, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of various types of dielectric insulating fluids.
  • Understanding of applicable personnel practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades.
  • Confidence, decisiveness, self-motivation, and a stable personality.
  • A valid Class A commercial driver's license and a history of safe driving.
  • Reliable personal transportation to and from the assigned work location or office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally to jobsites.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of standing, climbing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, bending, twisting, walking, squatting, sitting, and operating heavy equipment.
  • Adequate vision for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification.
  • Adequate balance for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes, dust, gases, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work safely around mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, task-appropriate gloves, and, as needed, fall protection, dust masks, respirators, hearing protection, arc-flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves or sleeves.
Responsibilities
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with company employment policies and procedures, including standards of conduct and appearance.
  • Follow and understand proper temporary safety procedures.
  • Read and interpret outdoor electrical distribution system drawings.
  • Perform layout and supervise small line construction projects.
  • Requisition materials and supplies and schedule heavy vehicles.
  • Operate equipment including bucket trucks, digger derrick line trucks, trenchers, crane trucks, and backhoes.
  • Install power poles and guys with related cross arms, insulators, and hardware.
  • Erect steel substation structures in accordance with erection drawings.
  • Perform basic rigging for the installation of switchgear, transformers, and steel structures.
  • String aerial conductors with proper sags and tensions.
  • Perform work on energized circuits up to 15,000 volts.
  • Install aerial and pad-mounted transformers and related switchgear.
  • Install and terminate primary 5-kilovolt-and-up cables.
  • Make correct transformer connections.
  • Install substation ground-grid systems.
  • Perform layout and supervise duct banks and cable installations.
  • Install outdoor lighting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Ensure quality and productivity meet company standards.
  • Ensure appropriate on-the-job training takes place.
  • Safeguard and maintain company equipment and tools.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the electrical construction trade.
  • Maintain company standards of conduct and appearance.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained at the jobsite.

Penn College graduates begin on-the-job training with Tri-M. Thursday, July 23, 2026 Four recent Penn College graduates have signed offer letters to become apprentices with Tri-M Group LLC. Four Pennsylvania College of Technology graduates have signed offer letters to join The Tri-M Group LLC as apprentices. Over the next four years, the students will continue their education while completing 8,000 hours of on-the-job training to earn their journeyperson credentials. The employee-owned company provides electrical construction, building automation, high voltage, security and networking solutions. "Tri-M Group has been an outstanding corporate partner, offering students and graduates meaningful opportunities to explore rewarding careers within an organization that emphasizes safety and employee development," said Justin W. Beishline, corporate relations officer. "Our partnership continues to grow and evolve, strengthening pathways for career exploration and long-term success. Tri-M, which is part of the Penn College Corporate Tomorrow Makers program, has welcomed multiple Penn College students and graduates at its three Pennsylvania locations in Kennett Square, the Lehigh Valley and Lock Haven. The interns and apprentices are now supporting the company's electrical construction, business automation services, electrical service, network service and building automation systems startup divisions. Members of the latest cohort of apprentices are Caden I. Lantz, of Williamsport, a 2025 mechatronics technology graduate and 2026 building automation engineering technology graduate, and Owen J. Mulhern, of Havertown, Nick D. Laude, of Hallstead, and Krew G. Baur, of West Chester, all 2026 electrical construction graduates.
