Requirements
  • Demonstrated precision mechanical assembly experience in compressors, pumps, engines, turbomachinery, aerospace, medical devices, or comparable high-tolerance work.
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Proficiency assembling to torque, tolerance, and fit specifications with calibrated hand and power tools.
  • Experience writing or substantially improving assembly standard operating procedures or work instructions.

  • Experience with rotating-assembly work, including bearing and seal installation, shaft alignment, and rotor balancing or runout verification.
  • Ability to perform mechanical fits and joining, including press, shrink, and slip fits; threaded and fastened joints to torque specification; and brazing or soldering as applicable.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and contamination control for close-clearance parts, including foreign object debris prevention.
  • Ability to perform leak, pressure, and vacuum or evacuation procedures and document test results.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment or sealed, hermetic, or semi-hermetic compressor assemblies.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform detailed hand work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally with assistance or lifting aids.
  • Fine motor dexterity and close-vision work with small components and hand tools.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment and work safely in a shop and light-manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble precision compressor units and subassemblies from aerospace-grade machined parts using engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, schematics, and bills of materials; assemble to torque, fit, and tolerance specifications using calibrated hand and power tools.
  • Write, refine, and maintain assembly standard operating procedures and work instructions, determining what needs to be created versus updated from partial or incomplete inputs.
  • Perform in-process and final quality checks, including leak and pressure testing of assembled units; record results and maintain build records, inspection sign-offs, and part traceability.
  • Support incoming inspection of machined parts and partner with supply chain on supplier quality and nonconforming material.
  • Partner with design engineers and the research and development team on assembly feedback, design-for-assembly, and first-article builds.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace with foreign object debris control and follow safety and personal protective equipment protocols.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of assembly processes as production scales.
  • Help establish assembly standards, documentation, and training for a growing technician team.
Desired Qualifications
  • EPA 608 or other refrigerant-handling certification.
  • Experience in low-volume or prototype-to-production new product introduction manufacturing environments.
  • Experience contributing to design-for-manufacturability or design-for-assembly.
  • Exposure to Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement.
  • Trade certification, associate degree, or equivalent demonstrated hands-on experience.
  • Basic experience with SolidWorks Electrical Drawings or computer-aided design.
  • Experience training and developing technicians or building a small assembly team, with interest in growing into that function as it scales.

AtmosZero, a company focused on electrifying industrial steam production, has secured a strategic investment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as part of a broader financing round led by VXI Capital. Existing investors Engine Ventures, Constellation Technology Ventures, and Energy Impact Partners also participated. The Colorado-based company develops electrified boiler systems designed to replace or augment conventional boilers in industrial facilities. Its Boiler 2.0 platform aims to provide a standardised product that integrates into existing infrastructure across food and beverage, chemicals, and pulp and paper industries. The investment from MHI, a global industrial equipment manufacturer, supports AtmosZero's commercialisation strategy as the industrial boiler market is projected to reach $24 billion in annual sales over the next five to ten years. The company recently partnered with R.F. MacDonald Co. to expand channel access.

AtmosZero raises $28.5M to electrify industrial steam production with heat pump technology

AtmosZero, a Loveland, Colorado-based startup, has raised $28.5 million to commercialise electric heat pump technology that replaces fossil-fuelled industrial boilers. Founded in 2022, the company is developing an electrified steam system for industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The company's first pilot installation began operating in May 2025 at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins. Investors include Energy Impact Partners, Engine Ventures, 2150, Constellation Technology Ventures, Starlight Ventures and AENU. AtmosZero's system uses electricity to power high-temperature heat pumps that generate steam at industrial temperatures up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit without on-site emissions. The company also received $1.8 million from the Colorado Energy Office and up to $24.3 million in federal tax credits. Volume deliveries are planned for 2027.
