Requirements
  • At least 8 years of professional hands-on experience in information systems and IT operations, including project management, systems implementation, and data analytics.
  • Knowledge of IT security concepts and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical system administrator and second-tier support resource for applications and systems assigned to departments.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and escalation support for computers, mobile devices, networking, printers, software, hardware, mobile applications, and other technology.
  • Maintain and support the configuration of on-premises and hosted IT services supporting departmental operations.
  • Train department staff, USIT, and OIT partners to provide backup troubleshooting support for critical systems and technology.
  • Serve as the in-house expert for departmental systems, applications, interfaces, and database structures, and document systems architecture, data, and integrations.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing for assigned departmental systems.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, and system-specific support for data integrity and security standards.
  • Serve as the technical vendor contact to resolve system issues, implement features, and test functionality against defined test plans.
  • Develop process automation using simple forms and workflows through a low-code approach.
  • Support systems availability through proactive monitoring, alerts, and incident response.
  • Support or serve as technical lead for information technology and systems projects from RFI/RFP, security review, and procurement through implementation.
  • Develop, manage, and communicate implementation schedules, test plans, issues, and documentation.
  • Document technical requirements and support documentation of business and process requirements.
  • Move implementation and development projects through RFI/RFP, statement of work, security review, and governance processes with campus partners.
  • Participate in business process analysis to identify functional requirements and develop technical requirement proposals for vendor procurement.
  • Schedule stakeholder meetings, seek project and technology input, and communicate project status, action steps, and impacts.
  • Use project management principles to plan and manage system upgrades and integrations.
  • Investigate and recommend innovative technology, vendor services, application integrations, process improvements, and solutions using peer-institution benchmarking and industry research.
  • Coordinate reliable integrations across domain-specific, back-office, financial, labor-scheduling, and mobile application platforms.
  • Document departmental data needs with Operations Leads and departmental colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in advanced analytics and database tools, internet-based resources, and in-house data sources.
  • Support development and interpretation of self-service data sources, operational reports, and interactive dashboards.
  • Support data initiatives including data cleansing, accuracy, integrity, data dictionaries, data inventories, data classification, and data retention.
  • Support the security of departmental systems and data with USIT, OIT/ISO, and Operations Leads.
  • Participate in continuity of operations and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Participate in architecture and security reviews for departmental systems.
  • Provide insights into IT strategies and technologies that improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Work on special projects supporting departmental and University Services activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with technology used in University Services departments such as food service, print and mail operations, student and employee housing, transportation and parking, audio/visual services, identity and access cards, and conference and event services.
  • Experience with hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of administering and securing heterogeneous end-user computing environments, including personal computers and mobile devices.
  • Foundational knowledge of networks and configurations including TCP/IP, firewalls, and subnets.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards with transactional, sustainability, or financial metrics.
  • Experience developing low-code process automation with simple forms and workflows using tools such as Power Automate or Frevvo.
  • Knowledge of systems architecture, application development lifecycle, and data modeling.
  • Experience with reporting packages such as Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI, and databases such as SQL.
