Micron appoints two presidents to lead AI chip expansion after 3x stock surge

Micron Technology appointed two senior executives to accelerate growth amid rising AI-driven demand for memory chips. Manish Bhatia becomes president and chief operating officer, overseeing global operations, manufacturing, and customer demand. Scott DeBoer takes on president and chief technology and products officer, leading memory and storage technology development. Both appointments are effective immediately. Bhatia joined Micron in 2017, whilst DeBoer has been with the company since 1995. The moves position Micron to scale production as AI infrastructure spending increases. The company posted record third-quarter sales of $41.46 billion and expects $50 billion in the current quarter. Micron is shipping HBM4 memory in high volumes, with HBM4E production planned for 2027. Micron shares rose following the announcement.

Micron stock could hit $460 or $1,884 in 13 months, options market suggests

Micron Technology's stock trades at $932.97, with options markets pricing extreme volatility ahead. Contracts expiring in thirteen months suggest two-in-three odds the shares will finish between $460 and $1,884 — roughly half to double the current price. The stock's implied volatility of 68.1% actually understates recent movement, which hit 81.7% realised volatility over the past year. Micron returned 694.1% over twelve months but has cooled recently, adding just 4.2% in the past three months. The volatility stems from memory pricing swings. Operating margin reached 65.7% on $90.27 billion revenue, against a three-year average of 11.2%. Management has signed 16 take-or-pay agreements to stabilise earnings, but these cover only about 20% of DRAM volume and a third of NAND volume, leaving most revenue exposed to commodity price cycles.

Micron rebounds 1.4% as $25B cash flow defies memory selloff

Micron Technology rebounded approximately 1.4% to $919.87 on Tuesday after Monday's memory-stock selloff triggered by Samsung's capital-return announcement disappointed investors. The memory-chip manufacturer reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $41.46 billion, up from $23.86 billion the previous quarter and $9.30 billion a year earlier. Operating cash flow surged to $25.39 billion, whilst GAAP net income reached $28.24 billion. The company converted roughly 61 cents of every revenue dollar into operating cash flow. However, Micron's stock now trades 53.3% above its $600.04 GF Value estimate. The strong performance is driven by AI infrastructure demand for advanced memory, though memory profits have historically been cyclical. The current share price anticipates a sustained AI boom.

Micron trades 20% off highs as $66% margin AI chip maker locks in multiyear customer deals

Micron Technology has experienced a strong rally over the past year, driven by AI-fuelled demand for memory and data storage, but now trades approximately 20% below its 52-week high. The company's fundamentals remain robust, with operating margins of 66% and revenue growth of 167% over the last twelve months. Micron has signed 16 multiyear Strategic Customer Agreements designed to stabilise its historically cyclical business through binding commitments. However, these agreements may limit upside potential, as ceiling prices were set during a period of peak profitability. The stock trades at a price-to-earnings multiple of 21.6, slightly below the S&P 500 median, but its price-to-sales multiple of 12.1 represents a premium to the market's 3.3, reflecting investor expectations for continued growth.

Samsung's 9% plunge rattles memory stocks, Micron slips despite $41.5B revenue surge

Micron Technology shares declined in pre-market trading on Monday after Samsung Electronics plunged 9%, sending ripples through the memory chip sector. SK Hynix also fell approximately 3% as the sell-off preceded Nvidia's upcoming earnings report. Despite the market jitters, Micron's fundamentals remain strong. The company reported quarterly revenue surging to $41.46 billion from $9.3 billion year-over-year, driven by robust demand for high-bandwidth memory in AI servers. This growth has propelled Micron's market capitalisation above $1 trillion. However, valuation concerns persist. Micron currently trades 61.65% above its estimated fair value of $598.06. Whilst Samsung's troubles don't directly affect Micron's orders, the memory market remains cyclical with Asian competitors investing heavily. The stretched valuation makes the stock vulnerable to sector-wide volatility.
