Requirements
  • Students receiving a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline between September 2026 and May 2027.
  • Previous Engineering or Architecture internship experience.
  • Openness to rotating through different Engineering or Architecture disciplines and Port Authority facilities.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within six months of being hired.
  • Engineering applicants must have a passing result on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam or plans to take it.
  • Architecture applicants must provide a portfolio containing drawings, designs, projects, models, paintings, or similar work.
Responsibilities
  • Rotate through different Engineering and Architecture disciplines during the first year.
  • Rotate through different Port Authority facilities during the first year.
  • Focus on the accepted discipline during the second year.
  • Gain hands-on experience and become part of the team during each rotation.
  • The Engineering Department designs, builds, and ensures the state of good repair for critical infrastructure at Port Authority facilities.
  • Design provides engineering and architectural design services for Capital and Operating Programs.
  • Construction Management coordinates construction and assures that construction contracts meet specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety requirements.
  • The Materials unit performs quality acceptance testing and inspection of construction materials and laboratory testing of asphalt, concrete, soils, and chemical or environmental samples.
  • Engineering Operations manages internal processes, design and construction services, technology, sustainability methodologies, cross-department collaboration, and ethical compliance.
  • Project Delivery sets project schedules and budgets, tracks project delivery against Capital Plan baselines, supports State-of-Good-Repair prioritization, and develops board authorization and CPOC Gate review documents.
  • Quality Assurance conducts inspections, reports on the condition of buildings and structures, recommends repairs, ensures code compliance, and audits construction.
  • Enterprise Asset Management creates an enterprise-wide platform for infrastructure management policies, processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Complete approximately six to nine rotations, each lasting approximately four to sixteen weeks.
