Requirements
  • Three to five years of experience as a low-voltage cable technician with CAT5e, fiber-optic termination, and networking experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with closed-circuit television, security systems, and alarm systems are preferred.
  • Industry-specific certifications such as BICSI, Siemon, Panduit, Belden, Verkada, or Corning are preferred.
  • Ability to work night and day shifts when required.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience with closed-circuit television, voice, and data cabling.
  • Knowledge of closeouts and main distribution frame/intermediate distribution frame buildouts.
  • Knowledge of cable color identification and color codes.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to operate a boom or scissor lift.
  • Basic telecommunications tools, personal protective equipment, and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with smartphones, personal computers, email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated conviction in the last three years.
Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain various cabling infrastructure.
  • Install Axis IP cameras.
  • Run low-voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and performing limited conduit work.
  • Tie and bundle cables neatly according to safety regulations.
  • Install cable support structures such as J-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
  • Repair cable poles and towers.
  • Test newly installed cable systems and component devices to ensure they are operational.
  • Troubleshoot cable-network issues and ensure systems meet local, county, state, or federal codes and legal or insurance requirements.
  • Adhere to project safety requirements established by Wachter, customers, or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Provide regular project-status and objective updates to Project Management.
