Requirements
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering (Systems, Computer, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Mechatronics), Computer Science, or another relevant engineering/science field
- 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer
- Demonstrated expertise in the architecting and development of new products including robotics, embedded systems, complex mechanical systems, and electronics
- Demonstrated experience in modeling and simulating systems in Simulink or similar MBSE tools
- Expertise in defining and managing software and system requirements
- Experience working with Linux systems, either Python or C++, ROS, and SQL
- Experience with system-level risk and safety analysis (e.g., STPA, FMEA, FTA)
- Experience with electrical power systems and digital signals
- Experience with ISO/RIA/UL or other types of compliance
- Knowledge and practical experience in diverse testing methods (e.g., statistics, controlled experiments, field testing)
- Expertise in at least one of the following: robotics, computer vision, sensors, actuators, cameras, embedded systems
- Must be able to work at our HQ located in Pasadena, CA every day
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and drive decisions
- Knowledge of best practices for electrical and electronic design
- Willingness to work hands on with hardware and software when needed to bring systems together
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to learn quickly
- Self-motivation and ability to make decisions autonomously
- Experience interfacing between mechanical, electrical, software, cloud and security components in sophisticated systems
- Understanding of safety-critical/robotics within the industrial automation industry
- Superb oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities
- Be the technical owner of the electrical system to ensure that all of its components integrate functionally and efficiently into a working product
- Define the system architecture, maintain system models (MBSE), and use them to run system-level simulations for trade studies
- Define engineering requirements and manage their traceability through the development process
- Conduct system level risk analysis (e.g., STPA, FMEA) to identify and manage risks during development
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Program managers to keep technical progress on track
- Drive system-level decisions regarding sophisticated hardware/software trade-offs
- Collaborate with Product managers to define validation metrics
- Work with hardware and software leads to define system performance metrics and methods for tracking them
- Establish and manage an automated hardware-in-the-loop test framework
- Analyze performance data, as well as system and software architecture to improve our existing systems
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of existing and new hardware and software systems
- Manage integration testing of the system as new hardware and software components come together
- Provide frequent and clear communication to other teams, peers, and stakeholders
- May support in training new individuals on the team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with product development lifecycle from initial to end-of-life is a plus
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing is a plus
