Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • At least 8 years of increasingly responsible commercial insurance, underwriting, or delegated authority/program management experience is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of delegated authority oversight, governance, and commercial underwriting is required.
  • Advanced financial analysis, portfolio management, and profitability-evaluation skills are required.
  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional partners and influencing without direct authority is required.
  • Strong due diligence, business-case development, and program-onboarding skills are required.
  • Negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with internal and external partners are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and contractual requirements applicable to delegated authority programs is required.
  • Applicants must have authorization to work indefinitely in the United States and must not require immigration support now or in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Lead assessment and development of new program opportunities and expansions into new markets or products presented by program administrators.
  • Lead underwriting, operational, financial, and strategic due diligence and prepare recommendation and approval materials for internal review forums.
  • Develop program business cases, appetite and pricing framing, revenue and loss projections, launch plans, and milestone schedules.
  • Direct cross-functional onboarding and go-live readiness across Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Information Technology.
  • Manage program implementation projects, including team coordination, resources, budgets, and timelines.
  • Establish and maintain authority matrices, referral thresholds, and escalation/intervention frameworks for assigned programs.
  • Lead governance meetings, committee cadence, and material-change reviews involving products, systems, ownership, and growth spikes.
  • Ensure adherence to agreements and drive remediation of governance gaps.
  • Maintain committee structure, reporting cadence, key risk indicators, and portfolio-level aggregation controls.
  • Establish underwriting guidelines, appetite, class definitions, exclusions, and risk-selection standards delegated to program administrators.
  • Set, monitor, and enforce delegated underwriting authority limits, referral thresholds, and breach management.
  • Review and approve product structures, policy forms, endorsements, and material wording changes before use.
  • Monitor underwriting quality, adherence, drift, and concentration risk; conduct performance reviews and corrective-action planning.
  • Approve pricing methodologies, rating changes, discounts, and surcharges within authority and monitor adherence.
  • Own profitability and performance management for assigned programs against targets and approved risk appetite.
  • Develop performance action plans and monitor results; identify and address adverse trends.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly performance and stewardship reviews with program administrators.
  • Validate the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of bordereaux and support profit-share calculation inputs.
  • Monitor program administrator financial condition, credit exposure, and stress indicators in coordination with Finance.
  • Serve as the primary carrier relationship owner and day-to-day contact for assigned program administrators.
  • Lead business reviews, performance discussions, and coordination across internal functions.
  • Act as the primary escalation contact and drive resolution of operational and performance issues.
  • Manage relationship health, issue tracking, and follow-through on commitments.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of delegated activities, including outsourcing obligations and regulatory expectations.
  • Draft, negotiate, maintain, and help enforce delegated authority agreements, addenda, and amendments in coordination with Legal.
  • Oversee agency and sub-producer appointment, maintenance, and termination to ensure properly licensed and authorized parties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Relevant industry designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Underwriting, or Associate in Reinsurance are preferred.
  • In-depth experience underwriting, developing, or managing programs in the sharing economy and mobility market across multiple segments.
  • Experience assessing and structuring coverage for emerging or specialty risk areas, including limited loss history and evolving regulation.
  • Experience supporting employee resource groups, mentoring employees, volunteering, or joining cross-functional projects.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for divisional, team, and other in-person meetings.
