Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As the Cost Accountant, Inventory you will be working alongside the Inventory Accounting team and will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of inventory. You will work closely with various teams, including Supply Planning, Product Costing and FP&A teams to ensure accurate costing of inventory, identify efficiencies, reconcile variances between standard and actual cost and manage product costing reports.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

The Inventory Accounting team is responsible for the discovery and improvement of inventory reporting in the Arc’teryx environment, playing a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the inventory management process from start to finish. This team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory accounting, ensuring that costing, reporting, and analysis are conducted with precision and adherence to financial standards.
If you were in the Cost Account, Inventory role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Updating and maintaining inventory costing within the ERP system bi-annually, as well as perform ad hoc updates as required
- Validating and reconciling input data related to inventory transactions and costs
- Analyzing standard costing outputs to identify variances, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all costing changes
- Analyzing variances and identifying root causes between actual and standard costs related to finished goods and raw materials, determining the impact of variances (PPV) on financial performance, and providing actionable insights and solutions
- Collaborating with various teams (supply planning, product costing, duty & freight) to gather relevant cost data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles
- Assisting in the month-end closing process by preparing detailed product costing reports and analysis, initiate adjusting entries if required
- Preparing and presenting cost reports and analysis to management, highlighting key trends and actionable insights
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory costing processes
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Building and maintaining relationships with supply planning, sourcing, logistics, and customs teams, serving as a liaison to understand all inputs for product standard costing
- Utilizing a deep understanding of the costing process and ERP system to investigate drivers of recognized purchase price variances
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the costing process from start to finish, creating detailed documentation to share knowledge effectively
Are you our next Cost Accountant?
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field
- You have 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the manufacturing or retail environment
- You have a strong understanding of standard costing methodologies and variance analysis
- You have a proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- You have excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- You have the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
- You have knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management software, preferably SAP
- You have familiarity with GAAP and financial reporting standards, preferably IFRS
