Requirements
  • Interpret and query engineering datasets in model based definition (MBD) format
  • Possess general shop skills including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems
  • Knowledge and proficiency in a variety of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, height gauges, calipers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and etcetera
  • 5 or more years of experience drilling, installing, and repairing composite materials
  • Electro-mechanical skills include wire harness routing, wire harness repair, installation of ESD components, electrical bonding, electrical grounding, heater bonding, system testing, and installation of test instrumentation such as strain gauges, accelerometers, thermal couples, resistance temperature devices, and pressure transducers
  • 5 or more years of experience should include post installation acceptance testing and post flight inspection methods
  • 5 or more years of experience working with hypergolic and oxidizer systems
Responsibilities
  • Leads the assembly, disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes
  • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul
  • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment
  • Directs troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components
  • Oversees validation/verification testing of systems and components
  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results)
  • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements
  • Leads and supervises others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations)
  • Provides training and mentors others
  • Works under minimal direction
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working to Boeing process specifications tailored to human rated spacecraft hardware
  • Previous experience working on human rated spaceflight hardware programs
  • Previous experience and knowledge working on the CST-100 spacecraft and CCTS program
  • Previous experience and training in Boeing Common System production software applications (MES-CAPP, NCM) and model based instructions (MBI)
  • Previous experience loading or deserving spacecraft commodities and use of Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE)
  • Must have ability to safely operate equipment such as, drill presses, grinders, band saws, cutoff saws, chop saws, table saws
  • Experience conducting wire harness installation tests including di-electric withstanding insulation, insulation resistance, and continuity
  • Previous electrical and wire harness certification to NASA standard NASA-STD-8739.4 desirable
  • Previous Boeing technical certifications and training in fluid, pneumatic, and hydraulic system fabrication, installation, precision cleaning, and testing
  • Repair experience associated with AFRSI
