  • Advanced degree in journalism, media studies, history, or related fields.
Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in journalism and related fields and contribute to scholarly research.
  • Direct and lead the Investigative Reporting Workshop, a professional, nonprofit, editorially independent newsroom within the School of Communication.
  • Serve as Executive Editor of the Investigative Reporting Workshop and manage relationships with funders, media partners, and freelancers.
  • Engage in fundraising and resource development to support IRW and its investigations.
  • Collaborate with division, school, and university activities; participate in editorial and investigative projects.
  • Possess hands-on leadership to carry on the Workshop’s mission of informing the public and training the next generation of journalists.
  • Possess the ability to start as Executive Editor in January 2026 or August 2026 and join the faculty in August 2026; potential tenure recommendation at hiring.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in reporting or editing and in organizational leadership, including fundraising.
  • Preference for candidates with advanced degree in journalism, media studies, history, or related fields.
  • Teaching specialization in journalism is preferred, though all areas will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with funders, media partners, and freelancers (desirable as part of leadership track).
