Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate from state approved peer specialist training program
  • Knowledge of the Recovery process, current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate recovery using evidence based mental health and recovery processes, as well as ability to navigate community resources
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in the English language
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued learning
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association
Responsibilities
  • Function as a role model to peers by exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills
  • Serve as a consumer advocate and provide consumer information/support to all CPEP/Mobile Crisis patients
  • Work towards promoting community socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, and development of natural supports
  • Build relationships with staff and patients, coordinating daily activities
  • Participate in field visits and interventions
  • Collaborate with clinicians in determining steps patients need to achieve recovery
  • Facilitate patient flow during outpatient programming
  • Greet new patients and facilitate a therapeutic space
  • Coordinate nutritional breaks and tend to the patient experience
  • Ensure that all patients, visitors, and guests, as well as co-workers, receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity, and respect
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • College Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in psychiatry or related field
