Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience developing and shipping complex electronic hardware.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred; relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong proficiency with Altium or comparable electronic computer-aided design tools.
  • Deep understanding of schematic capture, printed circuit board layout practices, stack-up definition, grounding strategy, electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility mitigation, and production-level release documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience taking electronic assemblies into production and shipping hardware.
  • Experience with power electronics and motor drives.
  • Experience with embedded digital and microcontroller-based systems.
  • Experience with sensor interfacing and mixed-signal design.
  • Experience with communication bus physical layers such as CAN, RS-485, or ARINC.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers to industrialize boards and resolve yield, test coverage, tolerance, and quality issues.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing test strategies, including in-circuit test, functional test development, fixture design, environmental qualification, and statistical process control.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working hands-on in laboratory and production environments.
  • Ability to balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
Responsibilities
  • Lead system architecture and integration across complex, multi-domain programs.
  • Own electrical subsystems end-to-end from concept through validation, production release, and shipment.
  • Design and develop power electronics, embedded digital, and mixed-signal hardware using industry-standard electronic computer-aided design tools such as Altium or Cadence.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturing, design-for-test, design-for-cost, design-for-assembly, and cost decisions early to ensure designs scale into manufacturing.
  • Create schematics and guide printed circuit board layout while maintaining signal integrity and electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility discipline and producing production-ready documentation.
  • Architect and implement communication bus physical layers, including CAN and other aviation buses, for fault-tolerant, certifiable avionics data communication.
  • Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support prototype builds, first-article inspections, and production ramp.
  • Define validation and test strategy, including in-circuit test, boundary scan, functional test coverage, environmental stress screening, and production yield metrics.
  • Support laboratory bring-up and integration by troubleshooting issues, conducting root-cause investigations, and iterating designs.
  • Perform electrical analysis, including SPICE simulation, power-stage evaluation, signal integrity analysis, thermal interaction analysis with mechanical systems, and electromagnetic interference mitigation.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure system-level performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets are met.
  • Perform hands-on board bring-up, system integration, and hardware testing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Aerospace or aviation systems experience.
  • Experience in fast-iteration, high-performance industries such as automotive, consumer hardware, racing, robotics, or similar fields.
  • Familiarity with DO-254, DO-160, ARP4754B, ARP4761, or similar regulated development environments.
  • MATLAB, Python, or scripting for analysis, automation, or test development.
  • Experience with electric propulsion, actuator drive systems, or high-reliability embedded hardware.

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 manufacturing expansion signals demand beyond prototype-stage engineering work.
  • December 2025 launch and active LinkedIn recruiting show the team is still building.
  • August 2025 $38.5 million financing supports runway through certification and production buildout.

What critics are saying

  • No public customer wins or flight-test results exist by September 2026.
  • Certification delays on DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 can freeze revenue for years.
  • A failed propeller or actuator program kills a tiny 2025 startup before scale.

What makes Neon Aero unique

  • Founded January 2025, Neon Aero targets certifiable aerospace hardware from day one.
  • June 2026 expansion pairs clean-sheet propellers with serial production inside one company.
  • Lockheed Martin Ventures backing gives Neon credible defense-channel access and validation.
