As we continue to grow, we need to elevate our design function in the organization and we’re excited to welcome a Head of Product Design to lead the charge on creating a seamless, engaging user experience, and a world-class design function to match.
About the Role
Reporting into the Chief Product Officer, as Head of Product Design, you’ll be the voice of product design at Sesame, championing the user in addition to growing and managing a team of talented designers. You will be a strong leader that is responsible for building out the design function but since we are early, you are excited to roll up your sleeves and act as an individual contributor. So ideally, you’re well respected for your portfolio, but take even more pride in the accomplishments and growth of the team.
You will partner with user research, and be an integral part of Sesame’s success and the happiness of our users. You will also help drive a culture of user-centered design excellence and manage the design team and help foster their skills and best practices that lead to intuitive and delightful user experiences.
As the Head of Design at Sesame, you will design innovative, intuitive, and elegant products based on deep understanding of our users. You will actively generate and leverage user insights using your research, interaction, visual, and product design skills to build end-to-end experiences for both sides of our two-sided marketplace (patients and healthcare providers). You will collaborate extensively with teammates across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Data to drive outcomes based on company strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive the user experience of our products from conception to launch as part of the product development team
- Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of our products
- Drive user insights using best research practices and design tools (at Sesame, we like Figma)
- Design innovative end-to-end flows and experiences with high quality and craftsmanship
- Manage designers and help them grow across the breadth of their design skills
- Own our design system and lead in defining best practices and a culture of user-centered design excellence
What we are looking for
- You have 10+ years of experience as a Product Designer on high-paced product teams with strong user empathy
- You have 5+ years of experience managing a team
- You have extensive experience in end-to-end product, interaction, and visual design
- You have extensive user research experience that contributes to products loved by users
- You are empathetic, you care about people’s motivations and behaviors and can create high quality experiences that solve true user needs
- You are an excellent communicator and collaborator
- You are excited to work in a fast-paced environment and passionate about helping individuals live their lives better
