Requirements
  • A high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must be able to move between machines as needed.
  • Knowledge of molds and casting process theory is required.
  • The employee must possess and apply 5S methodology.
  • The employee must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to read, understand, and execute written directives.
  • The employee must possess good math skills and good mechanical skills.
  • The employee must maintain a good attendance record.
  • The employee must be capable of lifting 50 pounds and reaching and lifting moderately heavy parts for up to several hundred repetitions per shift.
  • The employee must be able to stand for at least eight hours per day and bend or twist.
  • The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, sit, walk, climb, stoop, and kneel.
  • The employee must be willing to embrace new technology and change and continually seek improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Tap furnaces as directed by the supervisor.
  • Set up and operate the furnace for melting.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Clean the furnace and equipment.
  • Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials moved on the daily production sheet.
  • Remove material samples, label them with identifying information, and take the samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Operate an industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product.
  • Skim sows and ingots while ensuring products meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Stack, band, and prepare product for shipping.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair furnaces.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time, including attendance reports, corrective actions, and preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Comply with established Quality Management System procedures.
  • Follow the Quality Policy, ISO/TS system, and related procedures and participate in the Continuous Quality process.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  • Follow OSHA safety rules and company policies, including wearing proper personal protective equipment.
