AtmosZero makes modular electrified boilers that generate decarbonized steam for industrial processes. The boilers convert electricity and ambient heat into steam, serving as a drop-in replacement for traditional fossil-fuel boilers and can be deployed in a plug-and-play, scalable way with optional leasing and maintenance. Compared with others, AtmosZero focuses on a straightforward path to decarbonization by offering a fossil-free, plug-and-play steam solution that fits existing plants with minimal changes. Its goal is to help heavy industries cut carbon emissions and achieve climate targets by providing practical, cost-effective zero-emission steam.

AtmosZero, a company focused on electrifying industrial steam production, has secured a strategic investment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as part of a broader financing round led by VXI Capital. Existing investors Engine Ventures, Constellation Technology Ventures, and Energy Impact Partners also participated. The Colorado-based company develops electrified boiler systems designed to replace or augment conventional boilers in industrial facilities. Its Boiler 2.0 platform aims to provide a standardised product that integrates into existing infrastructure across food and beverage, chemicals, and pulp and paper industries. The investment from MHI, a global industrial equipment manufacturer, supports AtmosZero's commercialisation strategy as the industrial boiler market is projected to reach $24 billion in annual sales over the next five to ten years. The company recently partnered with R.F. MacDonald Co. to expand channel access.
AtmosZero, a Loveland, Colorado-based startup, has raised $28.5 million to commercialise electric heat pump technology that replaces fossil-fuelled industrial boilers. Founded in 2022, the company is developing an electrified steam system for industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The company's first pilot installation began operating in May 2025 at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins. Investors include Energy Impact Partners, Engine Ventures, 2150, Constellation Technology Ventures, Starlight Ventures and AENU. AtmosZero's system uses electricity to power high-temperature heat pumps that generate steam at industrial temperatures up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit without on-site emissions. The company also received $1.8 million from the Colorado Energy Office and up to $24.3 million in federal tax credits. Volume deliveries are planned for 2027.
AtmosZero announces partnership with R.F. MacDonald Co. to scale access to western markets. Commercial channel partnership will support industrial and commercial customers, modernizing and electrifying the Boiler room. Loveland, Colo., February 24, 2026 - AtmosZero, the company on a mission to electrify steam, has announced a new strategic commercial channel partnership with R.F. MacDonald Co. to bring modular electrified heat pump technology to major new markets. Executed at the AHR Expo this month in Las Vegas, Nevada, this announcement marks a major moment for industrial electrification, introducing AtmosZero's technology to a trusted channel that can deploy it across engineering firms, end users, and boiler rooms at commercial and industrial scales. The partnership with R.F. MacDonald strengthens AtmosZero's commercial momentum by opening access to pivotal markets focused on emissions reduction. For 70 years, R.F. MacDonald has been the premier, trusted provider of industrial and large commercial boiler systems for Nevada and the major customer base in California. AtmosZero is proud to advance change in the industry together with R.F. MacDonald, a team with a strong track record of providing the latest emissions-reduction technology and electric steam solutions to the market. Together, AtmosZero Inc is focused on keeping industries competitive by modernizing the boiler room and cutting emissions without sacrificing performance or reliability. Its two companies share the vision and importance of new technologies entering the boiler industry," said Addison Stark, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of AtmosZero. "This partnership taps into the huge opportunity ahead of AtmosZero Inc to scale into new markets. Electrified steam-generating heat pumps are a new tool that unlocks thermal efficiency never before seen in the boiler room, and doing that takes great partners like R.F. MacDonald to get the word out to all of the engineers and end users who use steam today. "We're excited to deepen our commitment to the boiler industry through this strategic partnership," said Jim Lowell, Chief Executive Officer of R.F. MacDonald Co. "Leveraging AtmosZero's unique steam heat pump boiler technology, we will be able to serve customers where traditional gas fired designs are constrained, but steam is required. The opportunity to serve customers with hybrid solutions puts us in a strategic position to advance the Boiler Industry overall. Together, we'll deliver enhanced service, broader product access, and technical expertise to support industrial and commercial customers as they modernize their systems for greater efficiency, compliance, and long-term performance." The announcement continues AtmosZero's momentum in 2026, following the company's inclusion in the Global Cleantech 100, the opening of its first manufacturing facility in Loveland, Colorado, and the expansion of its board of directors. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the selection of a winner of the Empire Technology Prize competition to advance building technologies for low carbon heating system retrofits and save energy and costs in tall commercial and multifamily buildings in New York State.
AtmosZero, in partnership with Colorado State University, seeks to develop a modular high-temperature heat pump system with the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions from on-site heat generation in the U.S. industrial sector. Approximately 75% of all on-site energy consumption in the U.S. manufacturing sector is used to generate heat, which means industrial process heat must be decarbonized to substantially reduce U.S. emissions.
