Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous direct selling experience in a hotel, including outside sales calls, is required.
  • Demonstrated success in developing a market is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop assigned market segments, emphasizing new business for the assigned hotel.
  • Work with the General Manager, Regional Revenue Manager, and Regional Director of Sales to merchandise revenue potential for the assigned property and support memorable guest experiences.
  • Develop and execute sales action plans.
  • Maintain positive interdepartmental relations and complete special projects assigned by hotel and sales leadership.
  • Handle inquiry calls, proposals, negotiations, and contracts according to departmental procedures.
  • Book business that enables the hotel to achieve or exceed monthly room-revenue and applicable other-revenue budgets.
  • Meet or exceed weekly telephone prospecting, qualification, solicitation, and outside-call goals.
  • Include the General Manager in appropriate sales appointments and involve corporate-based sales personnel as needed to win business.
  • Use the property's computerized sales management system to manage hotel business, record sales activities, generate weekly sales reports, enter business, block meeting space when applicable, and build accounts.
  • Remain active in at least two outside organizations, such as a local Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Sports Commission, or university affiliation.
  • Generate sales contracts and banquet event orders within LBA guidelines.
  • Develop and present business cases for LNR and group business outside established group rates and allotments.
  • Deploy seasonal and segmented promotions and packages to drive bookings.
  • Use business tools and internal lead sources to prospect for new business and maximize revenue production.
  • Target specific companies and reach decision-makers while pursuing new business or managing existing accounts.
  • Attend brand and corporate-sponsored sales training and appropriate continuing education.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline sales department personnel according to hospitality standards.
  • Monitor economic and business news relevant to assigned market segments.
  • Contribute as appropriate to the hotel's rooms forecast.
  • Follow up and communicate regularly with clients to maintain relationships and book or retain business.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and understand revenue-generation, advertising, and promotion costs.
  • Work at the hotel and make at least three days of weekly sales calls outside the office.
  • Attend weekend activities when necessary to ensure meeting or group satisfaction.
  • Travel overnight periodically for company or brand conferences, sales blitzes, training, and client events.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or another field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience selling Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, and IHG hotels, including Hilton focus-service, full-service, or extended-stay lodging, is preferred.
  • Hotel operations experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the hotel's market area is preferred.
  • Experience with customer relationship software such as Delphi.fdc or STS is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate in another language may be helpful.
