Requirements
  • A medical degree from a school of medicine listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Successful completion of the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination or Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination.
  • Experience with electronic medical record software, including Med Access, CHR, or Accuro.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clinical, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with relevant provincial privacy legislation.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification at the Health Care Provider Basic Life Support level is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of care interventions and medical procedures as permitted and supervised by the physician within the designated scope of practice.
  • Set up and assist with minor surgical procedures.
  • Assist with cast applications and removals.
  • Administer injections and vaccinations.
  • Set up rooms and prepare patients for complete medical examinations.
  • Use a glucometer.
  • Perform urinalysis using dipsticks.
  • Perform pregnancy tests using over-the-counter media.
  • Suture minor wounds.
  • Apply dressings, tensors, splints, and slings.
  • Remove sutures and staples.
  • Perform ear flushing.
  • Start oxygen therapy under physician orders.
  • Take and record vital signs, heights, weights, and visual acuities.
  • Assemble and maintain required sterile equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with pelvic examinations and intrauterine device procedures.
  • Maintain orderly storage and disposal of clinic supplies.
  • Follow standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Greet, register, and room patients.
  • Accurately chart medical procedures or interventions performed in patient charts.
  • Schedule and notify patients of appointments.
  • Scan patient documents as required.
  • Open mail, receive faxes, and distribute them appropriately.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly chore lists.
  • Understand physician profiles and execute requests to properly support physicians.
  • Actively participate in company initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word are an asset.
