Internship Program Overview: Our 2025 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-12-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.
Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.
Our Summer 2025 Internship Program application deadline is Monday, December 2. All materials must be submitted by EOD that date – incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
Department Overview: The Innovation Industries Department seeks to understand the rapidly changing landscape of NYC’s key economic sectors and to conceive, develop, and implement innovative programs that address specific sector challenges and opportunities. Innovation Industries projects are agile, strategic, and impact focused. We create, launch, and manage programs that partner with and impact the following industries and sectors, as well as support diverse entrepreneurship: urban innovation & sustainability, gaming, fashion, emerging & applied technology, AI/ML, blockchain and web3, cybersecurity, fintech, and life sciences. Our mission is to set the global standard for the creation of partnerships, programs, and innovations that catalyze a more equitable and sustainable economy.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Assist Innovation Industries teams in all aspects of the project management lifecycle, including strategic analysis, procurement and planning, partnership development, and project implementation
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on industries and emerging trends in NYC and globally, including stakeholder interviews as necessary
- Provide support on all aspects of project planning and implementation, including but not limited to financial analysis, contract and procurement management, site visits and other steps as necessary
- Create presentations that effectively communicate research findings, project findings and/or project recommendations to multiple audiences
- Help project teams plan, coordinate, and execute events supporting the full range of projects and portfolios
- Assist in drafting memorandums, and other materials for pre- and post-launch projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Preferred field(s) of study: public policy, economic development, urban planning, and/or sector-specific programs are a plus
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
- Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program
Salary Target: $19.00/hour (undergraduate-level students); $24.00/hour (graduate-level students)
