Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Five (5) years’ experience practicing law.
  • Skilled in the use of standard software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
Responsibilities
  • Directs and coordinates the overall day-to-day operations and ensures that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and trains staff.
  • Interviews applicants for selection and promotion.
  • Resolves disputes between the court, prosecuting attorneys and staff.
  • Interviews applicants for selection and promotion.
  • Prepares and approves budgetary input; attends management meetings; develops and provides input on policies and procedures for the attorneys and staff in the Special Programs Division; and performs related operational management duties.
  • Conducts presentations at conferences and seminars; instructs law enforcement and other criminal justice personnel in legal aspects of the criminal justice system; and speaks before community and citizen groups.
  • Monitors, defends and handles the most serious and complex specialty cases; conducts legal research; drafts legal documents; and interprets laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
