Roles and Responsibilities
Looking for a hands-on architect to help a client on a long-term journey to DevOps, Cloud
native, and modernization. The engagement is with a client who is more conservative and
deliberate with their modernization strategy and is taking a long-term and evolutionary
approach. The architect will be hands-on, and engaged with the architecture team, and one to two individual engineering teams. The architect will be responsible for understanding the architectural standards, practices, and patterns, and then applying that to the problem space in the design, construction, deployment, and troubleshooting of services, modules, components, and applications. The current deployment model is still to bespoke instances, with a plan to transition to containers and full automated CI/CD over the next 12 months.
Responsibilities:
·Design and implement software systems and applications that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable using Java programming language.
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our software meets business needs and is aligned with our technical strategy.
·Guide our transition to DevOps by recommending tools, processes, and best practices that improve software delivery speed, quality, and reliability, with a strong focus on Docker and Containers.
·Develop and maintain technical architecture documentation, including diagrams, standards, and guidelines.
·Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software development teams, ensuring that they adhere to best practices and use industry-standard tools and techniques, with a focus on Java, Docker, and Containers.
·Continuously monitor and analyze our software systems and applications, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for optimization and enhancement.
Required Skills:
·At least 8 years of software architecture and development.
·At least 5 years software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
·At least 5 years of experience with Spring Boot.
·1+ years of experience with at least one of these DevOps tools: Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Desired Skills:
·Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement
