Official UK trailer for Laszlo Nemes' film 'Orphan' set in 1957 hungary.

Official UK trailer for Laszlo Nemes' film 'Orphan' set in 1957 hungary. "Freedom has its price." Mubi has revealed an official trailer for the film Orphan, the latest creation from Hungarian filmmaker Laszlo Nemes, director of the previous films Son of Saul and Sunset. This initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival last fall to very mixed reviews - it doesn't really stand out in any way and comes across quite forgettable. The film also stopped by the Toronto, Zurich, London, AFI Fest & Denver Film Fests last year. The story follows a young boy in 1957 just after the Hungarian uprising, raised by his mother with the tale of an idealized dead father. However, one day he is confronted by a brutish man who claims to be his real father who wants a hand in raising him now. But is any of this true? Starring Bojtorján Barábas as Andor, Andrea Waskovics, Grégory Gadebois, Elíz Szabó, Sándor Soma, and Marcin Czarnik. An intricate story about a confused boy living in turbulent times. This has only 60% on RT with reviews mentioning it is "unevenly paced & curiously uninvolving." For curious cinephiles only. Here's the international trailer (+ poster) for László Nemes' film Orphan, direct from Mubi's YouTube: "An exquisitely mounted historical vision from Academy Award-winning director László Nemes." 1957. In Budapest, after the uprising against the Communist regime, a Jewish boy, Andor - raised by his mother with idealised tales of his absent father - has his world turned upside down when a brutish man appears, claiming to be his true father. Orphan, also titled Árva in Hungarian, is directed by acclaimed Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes, director of the films Son of Saul and Sunset previously. The screenplay is by László Nemes & Clara Royer. Produced by Mike Goodridge, Gregory Jankilevitsch, Alexander Rodnyansky, Ildiko Kemeny, Ferenc Szále. This first premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival last year. Mubi debuts Nemes' Orphan film in UK & Ireland & Germany cinemas starting May 15th, 2026 coming up. Interested?

JustWatch appoints HBO Max executive Quentin Carbonell as SVP, Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy

JustWatch appoints HBO Max executive Quentin Carbonell as SVP, Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy. Streaming discovery platform JustWatch has hired former HBO Max and MUBI executive Quentin Carbonell into a newly created role as SVP, Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy. Based between London and Berlin, Carbonell will be tasked with building foundations for JustWatch's future content initiatives and developing global partnerships, as the company explores new opportunities beyond its core streaming guide and data-driven marketing services. Carbonell joins from WarnerMedia's streaming operation, where he served as HBO Max Head of Streaming and Content Marketing Planning for EMEA, working across multiple launches and major regional campaigns. Prior to that, he held senior acquisition and curation roles including at FilmStruck, and was among the earliest executives at MUBI, later leading global content acquisitions as the service expanded internationally. JustWatch founder and CEO David Croyé said Carbonell's "deep understanding of the connection between audiences, rights holders and platforms" would be valuable as the company evaluates new initiatives and partnerships. Carbonell said the move came at a time of "intense consolidation" in streaming, adding that he is looking forward to applying his global content experience to help shape JustWatch's next phase, with content-focused plans expected to be unveiled later in 2026.
