Position Description:
We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Transportation Design Team in either our Grand Rapids or Bay City office. The candidate must have a high school diploma with 2-5 years of CAD experience -or- relevant degree from a technical college. Experience with MicroStation Open Roads Designer (ORD) and AutoCad Civil 3D is a plus but not required. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after 30 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Ability to create quality civil engineering drawings for our varied client base
- Ability to understand detailed sketches and verbal or written direction from Engineers to produce computer-generated to-scale engineering drawings, cross-sections, details, figures, graphs, charts, overlays and simple isometric drawings
- Ability to edit word-processing documents and spreadsheets used in drawings
- Ability to learn proper procedures for file saving, retrieving, and transferring
- Ability to perform self-reviews of completed work to find and correct errors before issuing the product for review by other team members
- Ability to evaluate and resolve problems by reviewing multiple sources of information and coordinating design criteria with other designers and engineers
- Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
Skills/Experience:
- 2-5 years of CAD experience -or - Computer-Aided-Drafting associates degree
- Experience with MicroStation ORD and AutoCad Civil 3D is a plus but not required
- Ability to speak and write professionally
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
