- An Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, although an approved equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- Five years of experience as a senior-level technician or leader.
- Formal training with certificates in five unique device classes.
- Completion of five projects as a key contributor or lead technician.
- Completion of a technical leadership fundamentals class.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and auditing.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements, including standing, walking, sitting, frequent hand use, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds, occasional pushing and pulling of objects exceeding 300 pounds, and climbing ladders up to 20 feet.
- Ability to use normal vision, hearing, and sense of smell to evaluate equipment and detect burning or other odors.
- Lead personnel and departmental functions related to the repair, maintenance, routine testing, and support of clinical equipment.
- Lead the department in providing access to medical equipment and achieving cost avoidance and financial savings.
- Establish and ensure compliance with timelines while working with internal and external disciplines.
- Provide leadership for the medical equipment management program and departmental policies and procedures.
- Hire employees, establish annual performance goals, allocate resources, assess annual performance, coordinate training, coach employees, and determine individual merit, incentive, and promotional increases.
- Ensure department compliance with the Environment of Care Medical Equipment Management Plan, Joint Commission requirements, and other regulatory requirements.
- Approve purchase order requests and invoices after work is performed.
- Manage the departmental budget and assignments to ensure fiscal compliance.
- Manage repairs at the minimum possible cost while maintaining patient care and quality.
- Manage vendors and contracts as required.
- Lead resources exceeding $2,000,000 annually.
- Assign work and schedule employees to ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Assist with special projects and lead departmental efforts and outside contractors in developing and meeting project timelines.
- Attend meetings and participate on committees.
- Participate in the disaster recovery plan.
- Participate in pre-purchase evaluation programs and contract negotiations.
- Provide technical consultation to the department and other personnel.
- Evaluate equipment failures to identify trends, design issues, and usage problems.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
