Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; and
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in product management or go-to-market start-up or corporate roles, consulting, finance, public administration, or public transportation agency.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years managerial experience in a start-up, corporate, or government organization with responsibility for identifying, analyzing, and implementing new business practices and strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Work on high-profile initiatives for MTA executive leadership to improve MTA’s financial viability, service quality, and overall performance.
  • Work with the clean energy and real estate groups to identify areas of opportunity for commercial or more cost-effective operations.
  • Lead interdepartmental MTAHQ and interagency working groups to execute projects critical to reshaping MTA into a more innovative, commercially-minded, and cost-effective agency.
  • Lead in managing Commercial Ventures’ effort towards realizing ‘best practices’ in HQ and agency commercial applications and partnerships review, particularly concerning business case review and market trend analysis; develop and manage best practice Commercial Panels to encourage better decision-making and consideration of commercial opportunities.
  • Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Responsible for the discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review the performance of staff. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.
  • Is held accountable for overseeing and evaluating contractor performance, where applicable: Observing the work performed by the contractor; Reviewing invoices and approving them if the work meets contractual standards; Addressing performance issues with the contractor when possible; and Escalating issues to other parties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
