Requirements
  • HS Diploma or Associate’s degree in Drafting/Design/Engineering Technology or equivalent job-related experience (2 years job related experience equivalent to 1 year college)
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience in engineering drafting and design practices, in addition to educational requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize various computerized design/drafting software applications according to project requirements.
  • Experience with Autocad and Autodesk Structural packages essential; AVEVA (E3D or PDMS) software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
  • Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge and design practices of civil/structural drawings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering/design & construction. Experience with AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) a plus
  • Able to work independently on design projects as well as interface with other disciplines.
  • The ability to provide solutions/options to complex design related issues.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills are required.
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities
  • Perform civil/structural design and drafting tasks to develop 2D drawings and 3D models using Autocad and Autodesk Structural packages, AVEVA software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu in accordance with project requirements.
  • Create and develop 2D drawings and 3D models for steel and concrete structures.
  • Review and check drawings for dimensional accuracy, coding, spelling, and compliance with CADD/drafting standards and project specifications.
  • Develop working drawings and 3D models from equipment specifications and detailed drawings.
  • Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications and as-built documentation.
  • Check and analyze 3D models prepared for accuracy, completeness, and interferences.
  • Collaborate with project discipline engineers and designers to ensure coordination and alignment of the design effort.
  • Release drawings and technical specifications to the approving engineers after quality assurance.
  • Develop complex detailed design drawings (structural steel and concrete) in a 2D and 3D environment from sketches or specifications while ensuring dimensional accuracy, spelling, CADD and drafting standards, neatness, completeness, along with applicable codes, project specifications, and established discipline standards before being released to the approving engineers.

  • Apply general design practices on steel and concrete structures utilizing CADD for creation of models and design drawings.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional concrete and structural steel design projects with few complex features.
  • Works on projects or portions of larger projects. Reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical requirements and design approaches. Reviews work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.
  • Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications and as-built documentation.
  • Develops working drawings and 3D models, within company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings
  • Check and analyze 3D models prepared for accuracy, completeness, and interferences
  • Develop complex detailed design drawings (structural steel and concrete) in a 2D and 3D environment from sketches or specifications while ensuring dimensional accuracy, spelling, CADD and drafting standards, neatness, completeness, along with applicable codes, project specifications, and established discipline standards before being released to the approving engineers
  • Applies intermediate/advanced techniques in CAD and standard design applications utilizing this equipment.
  • Exhibit understanding of materials and methods normally used in the Civil/Structural discipline
  • Exercise independent judgment by utilizing the correct design criteria based on knowledge from vendor data and project scope.
  • Use and implement manufacturer’s design documentation in the design process
  • Communicate with the project discipline engineers and designers to ensure collaboration in the design effort
  • Ensure the company quality assurance manual and standard operating procedures are followed in completion of assigned tasks

Zachry Group awarded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource's Combined Cycle Generation Project. SAN ANTONIO-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Zachry Group (Zachry) has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource Inc.'s Combined Cycle Generation Project, a major infrastructure project located near Wheatfield, Indiana. The facility will support NiSource's delivery of electricity to a third-party customer and includes two nominal 1,300-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle units in a 2 x 2 x 1 configuration. A subsidiary of NiSource Inc. will own and operate the facility. The EPC contract will be executed by a joint venture between Zachry Group and Quanta Services, Inc. (Quanta). Zachry will lead engineering, procurement, project management, construction planning, and commissioning, drawing on its five decades of experience designing and building over 100 gas-fired facilities totaling more than 60,000 megawatts. Quanta will contribute field-level leadership and craft workforce management through its operating companies.
