What BlaBlaCar does: It is a platform that connects drivers with empty seats to passengers traveling to the same destination on long-distance trips, enabling shared travel across many countries. How its product works: Users post trips or search for rides on a peer-to-peer network; drivers offer seats, passengers book them, and BlaBlaCar takes a percentage of the trip price as commission. Frequent users can also subscribe to a plan that adds features and benefits. How it stands out from competitors: It operates a large global carpooling network focused on long-distance travel, emphasizes cost savings for travelers, reduces carbon emissions through shared rides, and combines a marketplace with subscription perks to attract regular users. What the company aims to achieve: to bring freedom, fairness, and fraternity to travel by building a sustainable, community-driven shared-ride platform that makes travel cheaper and greener for people around the world.
