- One year of emergency department nursing experience with pediatric and/or adult patients.
- An associate degree or diploma in nursing is required; associate degree nurses must graduate from a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within six years of hire.
- An active, unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse license or valid participating compact license is required.
- Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, and Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or Trauma Nursing Core Course certifications are required within the stated time frames.
- Familiarity with an electronic medical record system is required.
- Basic computer software proficiency, including Windows, is required.
- Assess assigned patients by gathering relevant health information.
- Identify outcomes, develop individualized plans of care, and implement those plans.
- Assess patient progress and revise diagnoses, outcomes, and plans of care as appropriate.
- Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while respecting patients, families, guests, and associates.
- Evaluate patient conditions frequently and adapt plans of care appropriately.
- Perform aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile field using disinfection, sterilization, and infection-control principles.
- Maintain infection-prevention standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with procedures and transportation throughout the hospital according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
- Engage in personal development and professional interactions with peers and students.
- Participate in ongoing in-service education and seminars.
- Mentor and educate colleagues and students.
- Adhere to regulatory, organizational, hospital, and departmental standards, policies, and procedures affecting patient care and safety.
- Comply with applicable state and federal regulations and company policies.
- Keep required certifications and licenses current and valid.
- Complete mandatory modules and job-specific training within specified time frames.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, electronic medical record entries, and patient responses.
- Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and attend safety-related training.
- Perform work safely, monitor the work environment for safety issues, and ensure others work safely.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is preferred.
- STABLE certification is preferred.
