- A high school diploma is required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of an equivalent program is required.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant is preferred.
- Current basic life support certification is required, or the course must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.
- At least one year of experience in a physician's office or hospital is required.
- Administrative skills, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and greeting patients, are required.
- Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members is required.
- Proficiency with Athena Electronic Health Record or a similar Electronic Health Record system is required.
- Bilingual Spanish and English language ability is required.
- Time management, cleanliness, protocol adherence, and attention to detail are required.
- The role requires standing and walking during various tasks, full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity with eye-hand coordination, and occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Measure and fit patients for compression stockings and assist them with putting them on.
- Take before-and-after photographs of patients.
- Stock rooms appropriately and clean and prepare rooms for procedures.
- Assist with room and tray setup for patient procedures.
- Assist registered nurses and physician assistants with preparing medications and filling syringes as permitted by state law.
- Provide patients with pre- and post-procedure instructions and prescriptions, and ensure their compliance and understanding.
- Coordinate day-to-day clinic scheduling traffic to maintain patient flow.
- Maintain autoclave spore compliance records.
- Assist with medical supply inventory management, including ordering, receiving, organizing, and scanning supplies in and out while maintaining accurate information in medical management software.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient records according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day issues.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work with managed care and Medicare populations.
- Assist in training new staff on policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties delegated by the team lead, registered nurse, physician, or practice manager.
- Participate in cross-training initiatives to gain proficiency in various clinic functions.
- Provide coverage for other clinics as needed.
- Collaborate with team members across clinics to support consistent clinic operations.
- Pursue continuous learning and skill development to improve clinic efficiency.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant is preferred.
