Requirements
- Must reside in California or be able to travel to a local California office when required.
- Fluency in English and at least one other language, with strong listening and speaking skills.
- Experience in medical interpretation.
- A strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, including HIPAA compliance, and professional standards.
- A reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace for remote interpretation.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and professional over-the-phone and video remote interpretation for medical, emergency response, 911, intervention, and social services calls.
- Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional conduct required for sensitive interactions.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and remain neutral while facilitating communication.
- Follow client-specific guidelines, terminology, and protocols for various service areas.
- Ensure clear, accurate, and efficient communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and service providers.
- Visit a local California office to obtain a live scan.
Desired Qualifications
- DOJ, CACI, or FBI clearance to work with Children and Family Services is highly preferred.
- Certification or training in medical, legal, or community interpretation, such as CCHI, NBCMI, RID, or state court certification.
- Previous experience with remote interpretation platforms and familiarity with industry-standard tools.
