Requirements
  • Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and certified in Nuclear Medicine (NM) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • CT registry required within 1 year of hire date.
  • Maintains current NYS licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Responsibilities
  • Properly sets up equipment, positions patient, and determines proper acquisition parameters in order to produce a high-quality Nuclear Medicine study. Able to effectively work in all areas of Nuclear Medicine including Radiopharmacy, Quality Control and therapies.
  • Translates Nuclear Medicine electronic orders to verify patient name, date and appropriate exam.
  • Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained. Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age related needs and provision of care.
  • Maintains patient record keeping by properly using the current electronic scheduling and imaging archiving programs.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms.
  • Assists with the training of new Nuclear Medicine Technologists as needed.
