Requirements
  • Previous management experience.
  • Three years of experience in an administrative position in the Financial Aid office of a public or approved private post-secondary school.
  • Ability to develop and instill a customer-centric model for service delivery.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial aid regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional decorum.
  • Ability to answer complicated student financial aid questions accurately and in detail.
  • Ability to develop processes and controls to build a high-performing financial aid department.
  • Knowledge of personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds for 5% or less of the workday.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for 5% or less of the workday.
  • Ability to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason throughout the workday.
  • Ability to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and perform manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the Financial Aid function, including interviewing, hiring, and coaching team members.
  • Provide technical training and ensure the professional development of the team.
  • Provide the team with the motivation, expertise, and knowledge needed to complete assigned tasks and meet department goals.
  • Monitor departmental processes to ensure financial aid packages are processed and funds are received.
  • Ensure grant and Perkins award processing is accurate and uses institutional allocations without overextending them.
  • Ensure Stafford, PLUS, unsubsidized, and alternative loans are processed accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor and administer the functional department budget.
  • Participate in programs targeted at improving retention, customer satisfaction, and show rates.
  • Collaborate with campus and home-office Financial Aid functional and management teams to improve financial aid processes.
  • Establish and maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated, and engaged staff through effective training, performance management, and career-development activities.
  • Lead the team to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Recognize and reward employee contributions and achievements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain effective customer-focused collaboration with other campus departments.
  • Ability to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and develop practical solutions while collaborating with others.
