Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

  • The candidate must meet the physical and concentration demands of the role, including sustained computer use, standing or walking, lifting objects weighing 20 pounds or less, and assisting with lifting and moving patients.
Responsibilities
  • Float between medical office practices, sometimes with short notice.
  • Prepare patients for visits, including taking histories and vital signs and performing routine hearing, vision, or point-of-care testing.
  • Input data from patient questionnaires.
  • Set up rooms for procedures.
  • Act as a chaperone for providers.
  • Prepare instruments for reprocessing.
  • Maintain documentation standards and review charts before appointments to ensure requests and documents are in place.
  • Accurately document required information in patient charts.
  • Schedule outside tests or procedures, including x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging appointments.
  • Coordinate admissions and referrals.
  • Clean and stock examination rooms.
  • Conduct daily inventory of supplies and report items that need to be ordered.
  • Assist patients with check-in and check-out.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling in the electronic medical record system.
  • Answer phones and direct calls appropriately.
  • Confirm upcoming patient appointments.
  • Assist with completing patient forms, including workers' compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act, and disability forms.
  • Attend staff and educational meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by medical assistants, nurses, practice managers, or providers within the role's scope.
