Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Zero to one year of experience in a healthcare or medical office environment is required.
  • Heartsaver certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Knowledge of operating room and sterile processing environments is required.
  • Ability to understand principles and implement basic practices of infection prevention and aseptic technique is required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commensurate with education is required.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions commensurate with education is required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with others is required.
  • Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain control of own and others' workflow is required.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the liaison with Operating Room and Sterile Processing departments to ensure availability of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for surgical cases.
  • Inventory and restock supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities and implement measures to ensure hospital, regulatory, and other quality standards are met.
  • Maintain principles of aseptic technique according to hospital policy and procedure and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses standards.
  • Recognize, monitor, and respond appropriately to environmental safety factors.
  • Perform miscellaneous responsibilities.
  • Perform other job functions as requested or assigned.
  • Perform physical activities including climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Perform duties involving frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact and exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to three years of experience in an operating room and/or sterile processing setting is preferred.
  • A technical degree or diploma in surgical technology is preferred.

Former Memphis broadcaster Richard Ransom leaves Methodist Le Bonheur communications post. Memphis Commercial Appeal Former Memphis broadcaster Richard Ransom has left his role as the director of strategic communication at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Ransom confirmed Nov. 19. "After 30 years in television news, I believed that Methodist offered me an interesting opportunity to use my skills as a journalist to provide Methodist with proactive and principled media relations," Ransom said in a statement. "It didn't take long to realize that this is not what the hospital system's management had in mind. We agreed to part ways. While I've made no decisions about my next chapter, I am committed to being more thoughtful about where I land." Ransom joined Methodist from ABC24 in March 2025, where he spent almost a decade as a television broadcaster. Ransom had been a part of the Memphis media world for 20 years.
