Role description:

We are seeking a Senior Transit Architect with subject matter expertise in transit related design, management and contract/construction administration – specifically LRT and heavy rail, Bus Rapid Transit, Multi-modal and Maintenance Facilities. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record leading complex transit facility and infrastructure projects from start to finish. This role offers the chance to shape the design of large-scale transit facilities with opportunities for local, national, and international work. 15+ years of experience required managing multi-disciplinary teams, serving as the client liaison, and solving complex challenges with creative, elegant solutions; 5+ years of recent and relevant Rail, Bus facility experience. Role accountabilities:

• USA Transit and Aviation Facilities Division with focus on rail and bus facilities, management and contract/construction administration.
• Lead and manage large, complex projects and project teams.
• Shape the design principles that drive projects from conception through execution.
• Collaborate with practice leaders and colleagues as part of the senior design and leadership team to foster a culture of design excellence within Arcadis’ Transit and Aviation Architecture Studio.
• Assist with Transit related Business Development (BD).
• Help to develop one-year, two-year, three-year business plans collaboratively with the transit facilities practice leads.
• Strengthen a transit-focused design practice in the Western USA, that can support other regions.
• Mentor and develop emerging transit professionals.
• Hybrid work opportunity. Proximity to Arcadis local office preferred with ideal candidate being in-office 2 days per week.

Qualifications & Experience:

• California and / or Washington State architecture registration required. NCARB preferred.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in an architectural studio with at least 5 years of experience leading complex transit projects and managing large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven track record managing business relationships and leading, large and small, multidisciplinary teams, including remote members
• Experience with key clients such as, but not limited to LA Metro, OCTA, Amtrak, SANDAG, SCVTA, Sound Transit.
• Proficient in all phases of project development, from conceptualization to detailed execution.
• Strong knowledge of zoning and building codes. CA and/or WA specific regulations preferred.
• Highly organized, capable of managing team priorities, time, and deadlines across multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Analytical problem solver with a desire to mentor and inspire others.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
