Requirements
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Nursing License Compact.
  • Current South Carolina Registered Nurse License or multi-state Nursing License Compact.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent from American Red Cross.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates care for infusion patients and functions as a liaison between registration staff and clinical staff to facilitate the efficient flow of patients throughout the system.
  • Confers with physicians regarding the need, urgency, and appropriateness of infusion and clinic visits; coordinates with ancillaries as needed.
  • Assesses and reviews physician orders to assist with scheduling patients in a timely fashion.
  • Manages comprehensive nursing care for patients whose needs range from uncomplicated to complex and rapidly changing; assesses subtle changes in patient status, anticipates problems, and implements measures to minimize risk.
  • Organizes and prioritizes nursing care activities considering the needs of the patients and other staff members.
  • Initiates/facilitates/collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to improve care delivered to the patients and ensure appropriate referrals are made and completed.
  • Coordinates and manages care by applying analytical reasoning, reflection, rational problem solving skills, using evidence-based information and clinical judgment.
  • Functions as a patient/family advocate; collaborates with physicians to monitor, evaluate and trend patient responses to treatments.
  • Works with support staff to maximize efficiency in infusion scheduling; familiar with IDX and EMR; documents all patient care activities in the electronic medical record; generates ancillary requests in practice partner and updates medicines in EMR.
  • Participates in performance improvement and research activities designed to improve patient care and organizational processes.
