Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Power BI expertise: DAX, Power Query/M, dimensional/star schema modeling, dataflows, RLS, performance tuning, and dashboard lifecycle governance.
  • Strong programming: Python and SQL (R a plus).
  • Cloud & data platforms: Azure/AWS/GCP (experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar).
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience building forecasting, simulation, or optimization models.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Build and operationalize economic, rate, and load forecasting models using machine learning and deep learning.
  • Run scenario analysis for rate changes, consumer growth, and weather events; quantify financial impacts and risks.
  • Optimize peak demand planning and renewable resource integration to support client decarbonization goals.
  • Advise utilities on data warehouse/lake/lakehouse strategy, modeling, and governance to maximize ROI.
  • Design robust pipelines and ELT/ETL patterns that integrate operational (OT) and enterprise (IT) data.
  • Gain executive and board-level exposure by translating data engineering best practices into business outcomes for senior stakeholders.
  • Lead the design, development, and governance of Power BI dashboards and semantic models for executives, operations, planning, and regulatory reporting.
  • Build performant models (DAX, Power Query/M, star schemas), implement RLS/security, and establish versioning and refresh strategies.
  • Partner with client leaders to define KPIs and decision flows; ship dashboards that inform senior leadership and board discussions and drive measurable action.
  • Apply RAG, prompt engineering (e.g., CoT, ToT), and LLM-enabled retrieval to engineering and planning workflows.
  • Prototype copilots and knowledge systems that accelerate deliverables and drive efficiency for us and our customers.
  • Deliver high-visibility initiatives such as EV adoption forecasting, customer segmentation, targeted marketing campaigns, and causal impact evaluation of energy efficiency/DER programs.
  • Build user-facing tools that integrate power systems logic with analytics to help clients evaluate options, trade-offs, and risk.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, planners, finance, and regulatory teams; translate complex insights into clear executive narratives and recommendations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with utility/power systems tools: PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, CYME, Milsoft WindMil
  • Experience with MLOps/CI-CD (e.g., MLflow, model registries); DBT or orchestration (Dagster/Apache Airflow/Azure Data Factory)
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (or similar lakehouse)
  • Background in rate design, DSM/EE/DER programs, or data governance
