Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with children.
  • Must have at least three months (455 hours) of verified experience caring for and supervising four or more unrelated children over age four, or hold a current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level I or higher, version 3.0.
  • Must complete First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Must complete Universal Precautions Training from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Must have a high school education or equivalent.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift five to fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, walk, stand, kneel, crawl, squat, reach, and sit.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Director and Assistant Director in supervising children in various programs and unstructured activities.
  • Develop and promote positive community relations among community members and school clientele.
  • Build healthy relationships with children by actively engaging with them, relating to them positively, and responding to their unique needs and interests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Ensure children's safety by providing sufficient and appropriate supervision and guidance at all times.
  • Use positive techniques to support and guide behavior and promote respectful and cooperative interactions among children.
  • Plan and implement program activities that provide children opportunities to learn and develop skills, explore interests, experience self-worth and belonging, and contribute to the community.
  • Provide individual student assistance or assistance for a small number of children outside the classroom in before-school, after-school, and full-day child-care programs.
  • Assist students with life-skill activities and personal needs.
