Requirements
  • 5+ years experience developing procedures for robotic arc welding applications
  • Proficient in programming industrial robotics including Yaskawa, ABB, Kuka, and Fanuc platforms
  • Background in fusion-based weld parameter development for several metal alloys
  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing
  • Understanding of dynamic robotic welding technologies including adaptive fill, touch sensing, and seam tracking
  • Proficient with manual welding processes including GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and SMAW
  • Understanding of weld symbology and print interpretation
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE) principles
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)

Responsibilities
  • Run weld parameter selection experiments
  • Partner with robotics engineers to develop rules for automation
  • Perform robotic welding experiments
  • Fabricate test coupons for feasibility testing
  • Program and operate 6-axis robot arms
  • Manually weld coupons and test parts
  • Use powered shop tools for cutting and etching weld samples
