UT Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) provides the campus access, mobility, and services through policies that are customer focused, environmentally friendly, and economically sound. PTS understands that as a student, your first obligation is your education - we work around your schedule.
Purpose
The Student Ambassador will support campus safety mobility initiatives. Student Ambassadors will help educate the campus community about new safety protocols, promote responsible riding, and support a safer environment for pedestrians and riders.
This is a peer education role. Ambassadors are expected to be friendly, approachable, reliable, and comfortable speaking in a positive and respectful way.
Responsibilities
- Educate the campus community about campus mobility safety rules, expectations, and new safety protocols.
- Serve as a friendly and visible point of contact during the program launch.
- Answer questions and help inform the public.
- Distribute educational materials, reminders, and promotional items as needed.
- Encourage following safety guidelines in a respectful, non-confrontational manner.
- Share feedback, common questions, or recurring concerns with the program.
- Help identify high-traffic or high-confusion areas where additional messaging may be needed.
- Attend required training sessions and team check-ins.
Required Qualifications
- Staff must be reliable, responsible, and have regular availability.
- Must maintain an unexpired Texas Driver’s License and a clear driving record.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be enrolled at an institution of higher learning and meet enrollment eligibility

- Must not be working for another UT dept. or State of Texas dept.
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer service skills are a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, positive and professional attitude
- Interest in campus safety, student life, transportation and community engagement
- Dependability and punctuality
- Comfort working outdoors and in high-traffic campus areas
- Ability to follow program guidelines and communicate consistent information
- Willingness to learn campus safety rules and protocols
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good judgment when interacting with students, staff, faculty and visitors
Salary Range
$15/hour
Working Conditions
- Use of manual dexterity
- Climbing of stairs
- May work in all weather conditions, including inclement and extreme weather
- Some heavy lifting and moving up to 50lbs. may be required
- Uniform is a PTS shirt & safety vest (provided), and black or khaki pants or shorts
- Driving a vehicle or cart
- May work around loud noises
Work Shift
- Weekdays: Two shifts available - 6:45am – 12:00pm and 11:45am – 5:00pm.
- Work to be performed in-person, on campus.
- 24 hours per week, must work a minimum of 5 hours per week
